Eat More Kale and other One-At-A-Time Original Designs
I will have some pics for you soon. I haven’t got any over the top stories about the Kale shirt/stickers, however, they seems to generate a lot of questions- “what, is that a band or something”, “are you in commodities”, “is the Kale industry in trouble?”. I wear the brown Kale shirt to work out in at the Ymca- once as I was walking out of the locker room, I opened the door as an older gentleman, WWII generation, with a NAVY tshirt was walking in. I politely held the door for him to enter as his eyes focused on the “Kale” print. As I anticipated a response, a feeling of insecurity came over me, like the first post-college baring of my pierced nipples in front of a very conservative bunch at a beach retreat. I thought to myself, OK, this man has fought in brutal battles and worked his fingers to the bone so that my generation can wear tshirts that tell him to eat something he’s never heard of- he’s going to put me in a head lock and tell me how to get back on track. He looked up at me and asked, “Eat more Kale?”. I glanced at my feet and replied, “Yes sir.” He grinned; eyebrows arched, and patted me on the shoulder as if to say, “if that makes you happy”. We greet each other with a nod in passing now. I want to get him a Kale shirt for Christmas.
Take care – W.

I also want to salute the driver of the car I followed for many miles on my way to Montpelier one recent Tuesday afternoon. It had two bumper stickers: a nice round cheery green one that said “Eat More Kale” and one that said “Anybody But Bush.” That driver sure pointed the way to better health for all of us: not only physical, but also mental, emotional, moral and social.
