About Bo, the Eat More Kale Guy

The Long and the Shirt of It
My name is Bo Muller-Moore. I was born Robert Haldane Moore IV in Memphis, Tenn. Bo has been my nickname since day one. I changed my last name to Muller-Moore after marrying my wife, Melissa. I’ve lived in: Memphis, Tenn., Detroit, Mich., Kirksville, Mo., Birmingham and Auburn, Al., Atlanta, Ga., and finally in Montpelier, VT. I’ve been in Vermont since 1998. I love it here and plan to spend the rest of my years here. My wife and I have a daughter and are raising a 22 yr. old young man as our foster son. I’m a nut for; Music ( listening, playing, talking about, seeing shows, reading about, watching rockumentaries etc.etc.), non-fiction t.v. and movies, and T-SHIRTS.
Simplici-Tee
I love t-shirts. I always have. I look for subtle, simple designs or statements on earthy colors and soft, thick cotton. Well, it is not always easy to find such a shirt. So, after receiving a simple screen-printing kit (containing: 1 screen, 1 squeegee and 1 pint of black ink), I began printing my own designs on blank, locally dyed tees.
Say Cheese
My first t-shirt simply stated the word ‘cheese’ across the chest. People would notice my shirt, laugh, and ask where they could buy one. I quickly realized others also wanted simple, colorful, comfortable and original design t-shirts. I purchased two more silk-screens, a gallon of water-based black ink and started my business.
Farmer’s Marketing
For four years now I have sold my shirts – rain or shine—from a small booth at the Montpelier, Vermont weekly farmer’s market. Through the market, new friends, local and international, have bought shirts. Many have also accepted a free round green EAT MORE KALE bumper sticker, my “business card,” thereby helping to pass the word. Folks in Africa, South America, and Europe – as well as in Memphis, San Francisco, and Portland, etc. – have sent pictures of themselves wearing the shirts wearing the shirts in various designs and sporting their KALE stickers on all sorts of vehicles, water bottles, bulletin boards and bars! (send/email photos of yourself or friends wearing a one-at-a-time original design, and you may be on Eatmorekale.com)
What A Web We Weave
Customers often asked about a Web site for the shirts. Well, here we are, and here it is, my new and improved website. I hope this site is simple to use. If you are like me and prefer a farmer’s market to a Web site, look at it this way: I can’t attend every farmer’s market in the world, so I’m bringing part of the Montpelier farmer’s market to you! I’m not a professional screen printer; I’m actually a special educator/foster parent (and recently a proud dad) who prints each shirt one-at-a-time. I hope you’ll consider buying a shirt or two. I promise a simple, colorful, comfortable original design t-shirt.
I welcome your comments and suggestions. Come on, let me hear from you.
Thanks!
Bo
