Led Zeppelin Rules

If I was stuck on an island with a stereo and only one bands’ music…..it would be Led Zeppelin. It’s just that simple.

I trust most of you know who MICHAEL FRANTI AND SPEARHEAD are. If you are from Mars, or live in a hole…maybe you haven’t heard of them or seen them. So, check them out. Their new album is called YELL FIRE. The songs are amazing, the music is thumpin’ and the lyrics are too smart. If you miss the voices of:Bob Marley, John Lennon, John Denver etc….you will love the message of Franti and Spearhead. Michael has recently traveled to the Middle East and is most certainly “walking the walk and talking the talk”. He did not trust the news and had to go see for himself. Now he sings of his experiences. It’s a deep album that rocks. Get it and thank me later. If you’re into Toby Keith…..this album is not for you ( actually I take that back…..nobody needs it more than you! Go get it and listen to it
!)
I was pleased to hear an “EAT MORE KALE” shirt was mentioned on NPR this past weekend. A segment called “tour de farms” was featured on the weekly show “Only A Game”. The segment detailed a bike ride @ Boston that stopped in on some urban farms. One rider was described as wearing ” a bright shirt that read “Eat More Kale”“. Fun stuff. Please let me know if you ever hear of or see one of my shirts in a noteworthy location.
I keep seeing that 40% of Americans really like the current state of affairs. They love the President and the decissions he makes. They don’t mind the financial deficit this war and wartime policies are creating. They like a Congress that makes the rich…richer and the poor…poorer. Health care, energy, education, the influence of the church on the state, global warming, and livible wages………..these 40% could give a shit. I grew up in Alabama, I actually know these 4/10. They believe in faith over reason, they demand respect for their religions yet have no respect for the Scientific Method. I remember how mad these 40% were at Clinton when he got his blowjob in the office. Well I have to say…. I prefer sexual scandal to WWIII.
We are going to pay for Bush’s and the GOP’s mistakes. Many of the folks that support our current policies will continue to get richer and not give a shit, and many will become poorer and remain too dumb to give a shit.
As for me: I struggle for every dollar, I respect reason, I worry about my daughter’s future and I worry about our Democracy and the US’s stance in the world. I do and will sacrifice to do my part to slow global warming. I will raise my foster son and make t-shirts. And I will vote against the GOP ( the Grand OIL Party).
For three long weekends in a row I’ve been vending my t-shirts at 3 New England festivals. I’ve met some really great people out there. Many of them are now wearing my shirts. I really can’t tell you how much fun we can have @ our vending site. So many people are already familiar with “EAT MORE KALE”, so many others want to know “what is up with this eat more kale??”. There are a lot of people that seem to get a kick out of my designs. I get a kick out of them having a kick. I’ve given away @1500 EMK stickers. You may have seen one around. I attended: the Solarfest in VT., Falcoln Ridge Folk Fest in NY, and Camp Creek also in NY. If I met you and you are checking this out, and we met at one of these fest, send me a quick note to check in. I really did meet some very cool people out there. I also ate some really good food (also some shitty shitty food at Camp Creek…….everything else was great….yet the food was sub state fair food). I heard some great music and met some cool musicians….TAXI CHAIN, Eddie from Ohio, The Great American Taxi, Max Creek, Brie etc etc. I vended by some creative and easy going people. I traded food, fun, and art for t-shirts. I’m not richer, but I’m richer…dig? Thank goodness I vend for fun, not for major profit. Life as a full time vender on the music scene would wear me out in no time. I have one more weekend fest to go….Champlain Valley Folk Fest 1st weekend of Aug.. Then it’s on to late summer and early fall farmers market in Montpelier. Every Sat from @9-1.. I’ll be there late Aug through the end of the season. See you out there maybe. If I met you this summer, I appreciate meeting you, many of you have created some fun and nutty memories. You know who you are.
